IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ada N.
Velazquez
November 14, 1931 – December 26, 2025
Ada Velazquez was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. She was raised by her loving and dedicated Mother, Casilda Del Toro, and at age 2 she came to America. She was the daughter of Alexander Cromwell, who unfortunately passed when she was young. Casilda was the pioneer of the family, working hard as a seamstress to raise Ada and her sister Evangeline.
Ada worked as a bookkeeper and homemaker who lived in Queens, NY, for over 50 years. She married Eliezer Velazquez who worked as a machinist for the NYC Transit Authority, and raised two daughters Elaine and Yvonne. They spent many years dancing at the Palladium in NYC and God gave them 45 years together!!
She loved visiting her family in Long island, going to Rockaway Beach, Bronx Zoo, the Circus, vacationing in the Poconos and who could resist an invite for her cooking when it came to chicken, rice & beans. Dressing us up as kids for the holidays was always colorful. Nobody knew how to put an outfit together like our Mom, taking pride in her choice of colors, makeup and accessories.
Ada was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister and Aunt. She loved all of her family - Sister: Evangeline Hernandez, Niece: Roxy Hernandez, Nephews: Ronald, Randy and Barbara Hernandez and Richard Hernandez, Brother-in-law: Louis Hernandez, and Son-in-law: Robert Hall.
Mom finally settled in Florida. Loving the warm weather, lizards, birds, watching the red flowers blooming outside of her condo, glancing up at the clouds (for her favorite elephant shaped clouds), Christmas lights, and going to the Casino. She did what made her happy in life, and always told us to never allow anyone to stop us from doing what we loved!
It's with great sadness losing our Mother, for all the lives that she touched and for all who touched hers, we are forever grateful XO
