Albert D. Martell, 68, passed away in Boynton Beach, Florida on November 7, 2018. He was born in Madison Wisconsin. Al was the third oldest of 7 siblings. He spent his childhood in Battle Creek Michigan and attended St. Philip Catholic Central High School. He was then later competing on the track team for Michigan State University where he studied hospitality and tourism and remained a loyal Spartan. He was in the hospitality industry his whole life and managed a number of private clubs all around the country. He was a loving husband to Cathy Martell, caring father of two daughters, and proud grandfather of two grandchildren. His passions were cooking, golfing, skiing, scuba diving and traveling the globe. His favorite pastime was cooking for his family, especially at family gatherings. He took pride in his ribs and his world famous BBQ sauce. He spent much of his life, avidly fundraising for the Cystic Fibroses Foundation, a cause very dear to the Martell family . Al was preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert Sr. and Jeanette (Youngblood) Martell; his sister Margaret; his brother David; and niece Amy. He leaves, to cherish his memory, his wife of 23 years Cathy Martell of Boynton Beach; daughter and son in law, Kelly and Clinton Stephens of North Carolina; his daughter and son in law, Janelle and Jeffery Bess and their two children, Avery and Timothy, of Alabama; his sister and her husband Jeanne and Bill Decker and their son Will and his wife Christine of New York; his sister Nancy and her husband Denny Paddock, their son Trevor and wife Margarita of Georgia; sister Sally Thomas and her two sons, Jared and Jason, from Florida; his sister Debbie Martell of Michigan; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday November 10, 2018 from 3pm to 6pm at Boynton Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday November 12, 2018 at 1:30 at Saint Jude Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations towards The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
