Albert "Al" Prendergast died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 14, 2024 in Boynton Beach, Florida at the age of 76.
Al was born on September 30th,1947 in Brooklyn, New York to his devoted parents Al and Sue Prendergast. He was a proud member of the inaugural class of St. Joseph's High School in Metuchen, New Jersey. He went on to graduate from the University of Dayton where he began two devotions that would last for the rest of his life, one to his wife Eileen and the other to Marianist lay communities. After earning an MBA from Xavier University, he became an accomplished business executive, most notably as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Mastercard. He was passionate about many social causes. For over 10 years he was the leader of the Marianist Social Justice Collaborative's Global Economic Justice effort against exploitative labor practices. He was a lifelong Yankee fan and the iron-fisted commissioner of his family's yearly baseball pool.
Al was forever devoted to his loving family and his many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Sue Prendergast. He is survived by his wife Eileen whom he adored for 53 years of marriage, his sister Diana (Charles), his children Katie, Anne (Daw-Nay), Ted (Darryl), and Tim, and their six grandchildren William, Jason, Liam, Isla, Beatrice, and Otto. Al loved hosting his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren at their home, spending time by the pool, eating meals together as a family, and showing them his model trains.
A visitation will be held from 3pm- 5pm Thursday, July 18 at Boynton Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, July 19 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Boynton Beach, with burial to follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach.
