Alfred Farland, age 80, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication to his family, and a life well-lived.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Alfred grew up in Wantagh and later raised his family in Lake Ronkonkoma. He was a man of distinct character—patient yet wonderfully ornery, with a dry wit and a deep devotion to those he loved.

Alfred was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Welding Instructor (SP4). His mastery of the craft led to a highly accomplished, decades-long career as an engineer and welder at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he successfully managed the welding and sheet metal department for many years.

Beyond his professional achievements, Alfred believed in showing up for his family and community. He spent years shaping the lives of local youth, serving as a dedicated coach for his children’s sports teams and as a longtime Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America.

In his personal time, Alfred loved traveling and was happiest when spending quality time surrounded by his family and close friends. He also found great joy at home, especially when playing with his beloved dog, Rio, and his cat, Gus. He appreciated the finer, simpler pleasures of life, never turning down a good cigar or a well-made martini.

Alfred was reunited in death with his beloved wife, Lenore, who passed away from Huntington's disease. Alfred was a fiercely devoted husband, caring for Lenore for many years with love and patience as she battled the illness.

He leaves behind a family who will miss him deeply: his daughter, Lisa Clements, and her husband, Mike; his son, Chris, and his daughter-in-law, Karie; and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Cooper. He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Vessey, and his partner, Frances Brida, as well as many extended family members and friends.
