IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna M.
Schiller
December 27, 1927 – December 28, 2018
Anna Schiller, 91, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away on December 28 at Barrington Terrace Assisted Living. Her husband, Henry Schiller, and brother, Thomas Soden, predeceased her.She leaves behind nieces and nephews John and Lilibeth Soden of New Jersey; Thomas Soden of California; Walter and Denise Schiller of New York; Maxine and Michael Wilcken of New York, and six great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind in-laws Edna and Karl Mielenhausen, best friends Ann Migliorino and Norman Godfrey and their children and grandchildren, and her Barrington Terrace family.
Anna was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Thomas and Anna Soden. She married Henry Schiller on Sept. 3, 1949. The couple lived in Middle Village, NY, and enjoyed a second home in New Fairfield, CT.
Anna worked in the Letter of Credit area at the former Chemical Bank in Manhattan, where she retired in 1988 after a 29-year career. The couple relocated to the Palm Beach Leisureville community, where they enjoyed friends, entertaining family, travelling, gardening, and local volunteer activities. Henry passed in 2006.
A great cook and a wonderful hostess, one was lucky to be invited to Anna's dinner parties. She had flair and style, and was always interested in the latest kitchen gadgets (she was the first to try microwave ovens!). Anna was inquisitive and smart, and worked to keep abreast of the latest developments in technology. She was patient and persistent until she understood just how the latest computer application worked.
Anna loved her country and was a strong supporter of our armed forces. She was very proud and patriotic, as her brother and nephew served. She supported many charities, and was generous to a fault. Proud of her Irish heritage, Anna was a devout Catholic and was very active in the church.
Anna was strong—taking in stride numerous medical issues that would have sidelined others. She didn't complain and kept herself active. She was loyal and sweet and a "second mother" to her close friends and family.
But mostly Anna was grateful. She appreciated every thing that was done for her by Ann and Norman, and often said, "What would I do without them?" Their steadfast commitment to Anna was amazing. She was grateful to the staff at Barrington Terrace, who became family over the last few years. Anna was grateful for her family. She never hung up on a phone call without saying, "Thank you for everything."
We will miss our friend, aunt, "second mother" Anna terribly. We love her and wish we had more time to say to her, "Thank you for everything."
