Arleen Van Brunt, 86, of Boynton Beach FL went to be with the Lord on 10/29/25. She was born on December 30, 1938, in Red Bank NJ. Arleen was an active member and Ordained Elder in the Boynton Beach 1st Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Bellevue School of Nursing and from Marymount Manhattan College of Nursing (Psychology). Her distinguished career spanned 37 years at Bellevue Hospital Center where she rose to the position of – Director of Nursing.
She loved reading, and playing cards with friends. She traveled all over the world. She wrote one of the first Patient's Bill of Rights while at Bellevue and was admired for her bright mind and empathic but no-nonsense approach to her work. She loved crochet and knitting. She believed in giving women a voice and educating her daughters to be all they could be.
Her sharp wit will be truly missed and only matched by her generosity.
She is survived by: her sister Louise Zadorozny; daughters Carol Schulz, Diana Grattan, & Cynthia Lischick ; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Kate O'Brien. Arleen also claimed to be related to Queen Victoria and her cat Sweet Pea would concur.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Boynton Beach 1st Presbyterian Church 12/13/25 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the 1st Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers. 235 SW 6th Ave, Boynton Beach Fl 33435
