Augusta Brewster Rogers, a 50 year resident of Rye, NY passed away in Delray Beach, FL at the age of 99, just 5 weeks short of her 100th birthday. Augusta was born July 24, 1907 in New York City to Gustav and Ethelyn Brewster Wallberg. She attended Centinary School in New Jersey. Augusta married Ralph E. Rogers in 1927 and moved to Rye in 1936. She was an active volunteer and officer in many local organizations including Pres. Milton PTA, Pres. Ryehiem School Mother's Guild, Pres. Rye Woman's Club, Pres. Of her twig for the United Hospital, helped start the Visiting Nurse Assoc. in our area, member of the Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. Augusta was a partner in Carpet Trends, Inc of Rye, the Rogers Family Business, and contributed her decorating skills for many years until she moved to Florida.
Mrs. Rogers was predeceased by her husband of 64 years and her dear daughter Barbara Rogers Fendler. She is survived by her son Ted and his wife Ann of Rye, NY and son-in-law Ryan Fendler of Maine. She was loved as "Grammy" to nine grandchildren, Sally Rogers Breen of Watermill, NY, Sue Rogers Gost of Malone, NY, Rob Rogers and Liz Rogers Stone of Rye, NY, Steve Fendler of White Plains, NY, Mike Fendler, Nancy Fendler Lee, Peter Fendler of Maine and Donald Fendler of NYC. Also 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be held at Abbey Delray in the Health Center, Delray Beach, FL on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at 3pm and the Rye Presbyterian Church at a future date.
