Obituary

Barbara Ann (Olechowski) Wilhelm-Farrand, 76, moved from Southgate, Michigan, in 2004, to Leisureville in Boynton Beach, Florida, and died at her home there after many years in the grip of Alzheimer's.  She was born on April 6, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Casimer and Genevieve (Wlodyka) Olechowski. Upon her mother's remarriage after her father's death, her dad was Frank P. Ciloski, Detroit. Barbara was very proud of her education at St. Christopher Catholic School and Rosary High School (First graduating class, 1960), Detroit.

Barbara married Wilbert Wilhelm in 1963, in Detroit, Michigan. Wil died in May, 2018. She married Milton Farrand in 1992; he preceded her in death in 2003.

After graduation from Rosary High School, she worked as an executive secretary for Michigan Bell Telephone Company.  Later, she was employed by the HERITAGE newspaper in the Ad Department. She owned and managed property in Dearborn and Allen Park, Michigan.

Barbara's nickname was Go-Go.  She loved to be active...bowling, exercise, reading, holiday parties with family, travel, fun at her and Milt's cottage, walking the mall, visiting family and friends…keeping the links and communication open always. One can never forget her love for the movie WIZARD OF OZ and the Ruby Red Slippers. She always presented herself dressed in the latest fashion…make-up perfect…every tendril of hair in place…an example to her daughters. Barbara was very proud of her Polish heritage and never passed up a chance to polka; she learned Polish dancing at Dom Polski in Detroit and was a talented accordion player.

Surviving are two daughters, Janette Marie Wilhelm Dagnan and Lynda Ann Wilhelm (David) Agocs, both of Lake Worth, Florida; two grandchildren, Kyle Dagnan and Haley Dagnan, a brother and two sisters, Frank (Sandie) Ciloski, DeWitt, Michigan, Maryjane Mj (Jerry) Pinney, Centreville, Michigan, and Patricia (Anthony) Merlo, West Bloomfield, Michigan; her beloved, long-term caretaker Violet Cammock, treasured friend and cousin Kitty Yanchula, friends Pat Anderson, Shirley Smiley, Bernadette Chortos; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her dad, husbands, brother Leonard Ciloski and sister-in-law Marge, Katy, Texas, her two furry friends/companions, Spike and Suzy.

A visitation will begin at 2:30 pm with a Funeral Service to begin at 4:00 pm at the funeral home on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
