The first thing you would notice about Bette is her physical beauty: quiet, understated. But this beauty would not define her. In Binghamton, NY Bette would experience the Depression as an only child with her mother and father, a factory worker before she was a teenager. Later, she would do some modeling, but never be a model. Instead Bette would marry the local sports hero and start a family just before World War II. Fortunately, Con, her husband would be needed at home doing communications work. Her second and last child would be born right after the war ended.
Bette would be part of five generations three different times. She is survived by two children, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great great-grandson and too many friends to count.
She loved life but even more, she so appreciated all she was given. She had the ability to find what was good in anyone or any situation all the time. Bette was a companion, consul and confidante to many. She was warm, caring, a good listener and never judgmental. What would define Bette was how much she truly cared about other people. It is this caring, appreciation of life and her love that we will miss the most.
At age 86, Bette passed away on April 30, 2008. A church service will be held 4pm, Monday, May 5, 2008 at Unity Of Delray, 101 NW 22nd Street, Delray Beach, FL.
