Obituary

Betty B. Kiszka, 97, widow of Dr. Edward F. Kiszka, and long time resident of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away on February 7, 2022.

Born in St. Albans, West Virginia, to Harry and May Baker, she lived in West Virginia and attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia where she met her husband. They married, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia where her husband attended Emory University Medical School. She worked at Lockheed and also the Emory School of Nursing.

While in Atlanta, both children, daughter Jean and son Edward, Jr., were born at Emory University Hospital. They moved in 1960 to Boynton Beach, Florida, where Dr. Kiszka joined the medical staff at Bethesda Memorial Hospital. He practiced urology until his death in 1994. "Ms. Betty" was very active in the Bethesda Auxiliary, served at the Bethesda Bargain Box, and was part of the Bethesda Scholarship Fund. Both Dr. Ed and Ms. Betty were very active in the community and supported many organizations including "The Hilltoppers" at Seacrest High School. They were active at St. Joseph Episcopal Church as well. Ms. Betty continued to support Bethesda Hospital until she "retired."

She enjoyed playing bridge, and was a member of several different bridge groups. She had many friends and was known for her sense of humor, wit, and "down to earth demeanor." She always had a joke to tell and enjoyed making people laugh. She was a lot of fun and will be missed terribly.

Many thanks to Cynthia Barr-Scott, her live-in caretaker, for taking such good care of her for eleven years. The blessings Cynthia and her family gave to all the Kiszka's over the years were just amazing. Ms. Betty loved Cynthia's children and grandchildren and was so happy to be part of their lives. She always had chocolate candy for them and let them eat as much as they wanted while they visited! We cannot express our gratitude to "Ms. Cynthia" enough. We were so blessed she came to help our mother and we are so fortunate to know such a wonderful lady.

A small service was performed at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church on Sunday, February 13, 2022 and she was placed in the mausoleum with her husband. She will be missed by many people who were privileged to have known her.
