Roberts, Bruce E., 66, of Boynton Beach, died at home on Monday, April 21, 2008 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born Nov. 3, 1941 in Schenectady, NY, Mr. Roberts spent his childhood in Key Biscayne and later Keystone Point, Florida. A love of painting, architecture, and design inspired him to move to Baltimore to attend the Maryland Institute of Art. Mr. Roberts got his start in the construction industry as an estimator trainee for Exco Construction Co. He developed the "Building Systems" approach to conceptual estimating which he used throughout his career, at Henry C. Beck Co. in Md., and as Manager of Pre-Construction for Centex Rooney Construction Co. in Fla. Later, he joined Bluewater Builders, Inc., Coral Springs, as VP/Director of Pre-Construction, a position he held until his retirement on December 31, 2007. He enjoyed many hobbies, was a prolific impressionist painter and a classic car enthusiast.
Predeceased by his father, George A. Roberts, Sr.; mother and stepfather, Patricia Roberts Gotthelf & Harold Gotthelf. Survived by his wife of 34 years, Florence Roberts of Boynton Beach; a brother, George A. Roberts, Jr. of Brooksville, FL; a son, Brett Roberts of Baltimore, MD; a stepson, Andrew (Karen) Cavacos of Rochester, NY, grandchildren, Jeremy & Ryder Smith of Baltimore, and Elizabeth, Sophia & Sarah Cavacos of Rochester, NY, several nieces & nephews.
The family gratefully acknowledges the Oncology staff at Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach and Hospice of Palm Beach County.
