It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Ioia Marra, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Carol was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 22, 1958, to Rose and Joseph J. Ioia.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband, John Marra; her two children, Ashley and Taylor Pascocello; her brother, Joseph A. Ioia, and sister-in-law, Gayle Ioia; and her two grandchildren, Salvatore and Angelo DiPaola.

She attended Dyker Heights Elementary School and Lafayette High School. She worked various careers throughout her life, but her most meaningful role was caring for the people she loved. She grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, where she was blessed with lifelong friendships that remained a constant source of joy throughout her life. Many neighborhood friends and family always called on Carol for advice, adventure, and laughter. Her home was a welcoming safe place for anyone to come eat, talk, and make memories that would last a lifetime.

The deep family values and strong roots instilled in Carol by her mother, Rose, were carried forward through generations. Their bond was built on love, appreciation, and friendship. Carol lovingly cared for her mother throughout the years, honoring the devotion and strength that had always been at the heart of their family.

As a mother, Carol was selfless, nurturing, devoted, and deeply loving. To her daughters, she was everything — guidance, comfort and unconditional love. She was their greatest protector, biggest cheerleader, and most trusted friend. They were the pillars of her heart, just as she was the center of theirs. Her daughters were the greatest accomplishment and pride of her life.

 Her love for her grandchildren was boundless. They brought her immeasurable joy and she treasured every moment spent with them. They shared a remarkable bond with their Gram that will continue to live in their hearts forever. 

Carol and John experienced many chapters of life together, while loving their families and building special bonds along the way. She was deeply cherished by her mother-in-law, Angie, and sister-in-law, Theresa, throughout the years. Her husband admired her strength, wisdom, and fierce spunk. Throughout their lives, they enjoyed traveling to various tropical destinations such as Puerto Rico, Aruba, and Jamaica. Her favorite adventure of all was moving to Florida in 2022, where she finally got her forever palm trees. Their love was timeless and deeply rooted, much like the Frank Sinatra songs they held dear together.

She found joy in the simple things in life and made sure no one ever left her presence without feeling full of food, laughter, and love. Food was her love language, and even the simplest Sunday dinner became an experience meant to feed both body and soul.

Carol lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends. Known as a friend to everyone she met, she will be remembered for her warm heart, generosity, sense of humor, and beautiful spirit. To know her, was to love her. 

A visitation will be held from 9:30 am- 11:30 am on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Boynton Memorial Chapel.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Emmanuel Catholic Church at 1:00 pm on Thursday following the visitation.
