Catherine M. "Cathy" White

Age 83, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away March 9, 2009 in her home following a spirited battle with a year long illness. Cathy was born in Clones, County Monaghan, Republic of Ireland and emigrated to New York at age 3. She lived in Astoria, Queens and then Commack, Long Island for many years. She and her first husband Bob moved to Florida in 1979.
Cathy is survived by her devoted husband of 18 years, Jim White; by sons, Bob Gance Jr., husband of JoAnne of Sinking Spring, PA and Ed Gance of Berkley, CA; and step-daughter Sandy McGlinckey of Wolfboro, NH. She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Bob Gance and daughter Rita Gance. "Grandma" is also survived by her grandson Dave Gance, husband of Teresa, and great-granddaughter Sophia Gance of Wilmington, NC and granddaughter Amy Brown, wife of Zachary Brown of Asheville, NC. They loved their grandma dearly. Cathy is also survived by a sister Terry Shannon of New Jersey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cathy's selfless love and dedication to her family was foremost in her life, followed by her love of dancing. She and Jim, who was her right-hand man, taught line-dancing in the area for 19 years and at the Boynton Beach Senior Center for many years as a volunteer.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am, Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Teal Ribbon Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation Inc., PO Box 83015, Gaithersburg, MD 20883 or to the charity of choice.
