Cathy (Chi) Nihill (nee Duong), age 76, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed awayon April 30, 2026. Cathy was born on October 19, 1949 in Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam to Hai Duong and Minh Diep.
From an early age, Cathy spent her days looking after her many siblings - atestament to her family values and a life dedicated to caring for her loved ones. Her life was a constant and radiant showcase of what it means to lead with kindnessand care for others.
Cathy first met Francis (Frank) Nihill in Vietnam when he was working for theUnited States government, and they became close friends. Decades later, theyreconnected when she moved to the United States and finally married. Cathy’smarriage took her across the country, from living in Western Washington toretiring in South Florida. Cathy and Frank loved traveling the world together,being with their families, and their dogs (first Cyril and later Leilei).
Cathy was an avid cook and baker, especially for Frank, her friends, and herfamily. She loved tending to her orchids and was an active member of Our LadyQueen of Peace Roman Catholic Parish in Delray Beach, FL.
Cathy was preceded in death by her mother Minh Diep, her father Hai Duong, hersister Nu To Duong, her brother Qua Quoc Duong, her husband Francis Nihill, andher beloved dog Cyril.
Cathy is survived by her sisters Nu Duong, Tien Que Duong, and Mai Diep; herbrothers Vinh Duong, Dan Duong, Thanh Quoc Duong, and Quang Quoc Duong;her dog Leilei; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
Cathy was a wonderful sister, aunt, and wife, and a loyal and treasured friend toall. She will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 1pm to 3pm at BoyntonMemorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, FL.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 10:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Parish in Delray Beach, FL.
A burial will take place at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Cranston, Rhode Island.
