Dr. Charles "Chuck" M. Conklin
Dr. Charles "Chuck" M. Conklin, Ph.D., M.S.W., C.S.W., A.C.S.W., of Boynton Beach, FL past to the "Big Divot in the Sky" on July 14th, 2009 at the Bethesda Hospice.
Born in Norwich, NY in 1917, Chuck survived four brothers, Pearl Harbor, 3 campaigns in Europe with the 102nd Infantry Division and duty in the Korean police action. He is survived by what he always called "the three wonderful ladies in his life" his beloved wife, Dolores, and adoring daughters Claudia and Charlene.
Chuck retired as a Major in the US Army in 1956 and then worked as a school Social Worker in Urbana, IL for 15 years, where he estimated he taught about 2,000 children to live by the golden rule. At the Palm Beach Regional Achievement Center he worked with the Developmentally Handicapped, and was in Private Practice as a Psychotherapist for eight years. Then on his 77th birthday, he decided to concentrate on tennis, bowling and golf. He has a box at Churchill Downs and has never missed a Kentucky Derby from WWII to 2000.
