CHARLES HARRISON NEWMAN 81,
(Harry) went to be with our heavenly Father on Oct. 3, 2010, in Banner Elk, N.C. He was born in Watseka, Illinois September 30, 1929 to Charles and Aria (Harrison) Newman. Harry met his first wife and mother to his children Barbara Jean Lockhart at FSU. They were married Dec. 27, 1951 until Barbara's death in 1984. He later married Harriette Hutchinson in 1985. Harry was an elder at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church, Banner Elk, N.Carolina and also was a member of the men's prayer group. He was also involved with the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce. Harry graduated Broadripple High School, Indianapolis, IN, 1947.Attended Indiana University 1947-1948. Attended Florida State University 1948-1951, member Theta Chi Fraternity, Gold Key Men's Honorary Fraternity, Editor-in chief 1951 Tally-Ho Yearbook. Served U.S. Army 1951-Dec 1953, Graduated 2nd Lt, Infantry. Officers Candidate School, Ft.Benning, GA June 1952. Infantry Airborne-Jump Master, served 11th Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell, KY 1952, served 40th Infantry Division, Korea 1953. Employed First Federal Savings & Loan of Delray Beadh,1954. Opened Boca Raton office Dec 1955. Manager VP, First Fed. 1958, served as president 1972-1982. Stayed on after merger with Great Western as AVP until retirement in 1990.He was a member of PBC Chapter of American Savings and Loan Institute. Pres. 1955 thru 1957. Gold Coast Chapter of Society of Savings and Loan Contractors, PB and Martin County. Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors 1956 thru 1959, Pres 1958. Boca Raton Kiwanis Club Board of Directors 1956 thru 1957. Boca Raton Library Association Board of Directors 1957 thru 1963. Delegate to State Convention 1962 St.Paul Lutheran Church Boca Raton. Harry is survived by this wife Harriette of Banner Elk, NC., his children; Charlie Newman (Rhea), Connie Allen
(Ray), Cathy Cooper (Geoff), Eddie Newman (Maureen), 10 grandchildren; Shannon Taylor (Crystal), Charlie III, John Newman, Rachel Allen, Tripp Allen, Jennifer Rodgers (David),Bo Cooper (Kathy), Julianne Cooper, James Newman, William Newman. and 5 great grandchildren; Kara Cooper, Trey Cooper, Luke Rodgers, Britton Taylor, Jaxon Taylor. He is also survived by two nieces, Elizabeth Blanchard (Kerry) and Emily McCullough and a cousin Susan Strom. He was preceded in death by his brother Joel Edward (Ed) Newman. Two step-children Margaret Gehring and David Hutchinson (Christine).

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M, Friday, October 8th, at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 9th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 W Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton.
