Corey
Watson
Jan 3, 1990 — Aug 29, 2026
Lantana
Corey Douglas Watson, 36, of Lantana, Florida, passed away on August 29, 2026, after a horrific and unimaginable car accident, caused by a drunk driver.
On August 23rd, Corey was involved in a devastating head-on collision on Southern Boulevard near the Jog Road overpass when a drunk driver traveling on the wrong side of the road struck his vehicle as the two cars crested the overpass. What followed was every family’s worst nightmare. Corey remained in critical condition at St. Mary’s Medical Center for six days before his injuries proved too devastating to overcome.
It is impossible to put into words the heartbreak of losing Corey in such a sudden and senseless way. But while the circumstances of his death are tragic and will forever be a painful part of his story, they are not what defined Corey. Corey’s life was defined by the love he gave, the people he cared for, the laughter he shared, and the memories he left behind.
Corey was born on January 3, 1990, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Lee Watson and the late Clint Watson. He attended The King’s Academy and, from a young age, had a love for adventure, riding his dirt bike, playing video games, and spending time with his friends. He was the kind of person who could make an ordinary day memorable simply by being there.
On October 13, 2022, Corey married the love of his life, Courtney, in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Together, they shared ten years of life and four years of marriage, building a family and a life filled with love, adventure, laughter, and countless memories. Their life together was one of the greatest gifts they shared, and Corey was immensely proud of the family they created.
Corey spent 11 years working at Costco as a Supervisor in the Meat Department. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication to the people he worked alongside. Those who knew him through work knew that Corey was someone they could count on.
But above all else, Corey was a family man. He cherished being with the people he loved most and found joy in the simple moments of everyday life. He treasured trips to Colorado and North Carolina, working out, watching crime documentaries, and cheering loudly for the Tennessee Volunteers on game days. He loved cooking and sharing meals with friends and family, and there was something especially meaningful about the way he brought people together around a table.
Corey was a devoted husband and a proud father. His greatest joy was his family, and nothing meant more to him than his two beautiful daughters, Clover and Carter. At the time of his passing, Clover was 23 months old and Carter was just nine months old. Though their lives together were far too short, the love Corey gave his daughters will remain a part of them for the rest of their lives.
Corey leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a love that will continue through everyone who knew him. He leaves behind his wife, Courtney, and his daughters, Clover and Carter; his mother, Lee Watson; and countless family members and friends whose lives are forever changed by having known and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clint Watson, and his maternal grandparents, Shirley and Richard Miller.
Corey was only 36 years old. His life was cut heartbreakingly short, and there is no way to make sense of a loss this devastating. But he lived a life filled with people who loved him deeply, and he leaves behind a family who will carry his love, his stories, his laughter, and his memory with them always.
Corey will be missed beyond words, loved beyond measure, and remembered with immense pride.
