Damon Thornhill Jr of Jacksonville, FL passed away unexpectedly November 1, 2017 at the age of 48.

He was a devoted son, and loving brother and uncle. Damon grew up in south Florida. He joined the Navy in 1988 and served on the USS Saratoga (CV60), NSSF Groton, CT, NSF Diego Garcia, TTF Bangor,WA, USS Carl Vinson (CVN70), taught at the Naval Sub School Groton, CT, USS Emory S Land(AS39), and Comoptevfor Norfolk, VA. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2012.

Damon received numerous awards during his time of service.

Damon is survived by his mother Patricia Thornhill of Boynton Beach, his sister Debbie (Tom) McCabe of Lake Worth, and his nephews Liam, Sean, and Ryan.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:45pm Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Thomas More Church, Boynton Beach. Burial will be 2:30pm Friday, December 1, 2017 at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth (LANE 1).
