Daniel J. O'Connell

Age 86 of Ocean Ridge, FL passed away December 16, 2016. He has lived in this area since 1972 coming from Holyoke, MA where he was born and raised. Daniel served his country in the United States Air Force from 1948-1952. He was a member of the Lamda Chi fraternity and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Massachusetts. Daniel worked as a general contractor for 15 years at the Perini Corporation before starting his own company, Daniel O'Connell General Contractors. As former Mayor and city commissioner of Ocean Ridge, FL, he was very active in his community including a member of the Elks Lodge, past president of the Palm Beach County General Contractors Assoc. and was a private pilot out of Lantana Airport.
Daniel was also very active in his faith. He was an avid supporter of the Diocese of Palm Beach County, a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active parishioner of St. Mark Church, Boynton Beach and St. Vincent Ferrer Church, Delray Beach.
Daniel is survived by six children Karin Lieberman (Carl), Susan Drummey (Jack), Daniel O'Connell (Carrie), Nan Maley, Danielle Murphy (Ryan) & John O'Connell (Rachel). Eleven grandchildren John & Sarah Lieberman, Daniel & Phillip O'Connell, Erin, Sara & Anna Drummey, Shannan Maley, Rylee & Callum Murphy and Piper O'Connell.
A Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church and School Capital Campaign, Delray Beach with interment to follow at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth.
