Obituary

Dolores Constance Julia Oates, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, in Apopka, Florida. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1935, Dolores dedicated her life to her family and community.
In January 1957, Dolores married Peter Oates, and together they built a life that eventually brought them to Florida in 1970. Dolores spent most of her life in Boynton Beach, where she raised her family and became a cherished community member. Her nearly 40-year career working with Dr. Khan was marked by her kindness and dedication, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and friends.

In 2021, Dolores moved to Apopka with her daughter Gina where they lived near her other daughter Cara and son-in-law, Mike. She cherished family gatherings, often enjoying her famous meatballs and chicken cutlets or meals prepared by her son-in-law Mike. Dolores had a passion for playing cards and games and delighted in shopping trips.

Dolores is survived by her children Gina (James pre-deceased 2013), Peter (Lauren), and Cara (Mike). She was predeceased by her son Paul, who passed away in 2009, and her husband Pete, who passed in 1993. She was adored by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was simply "Gigi": Katrina (Raul) and their son Dexter; Nicolette (Logan) and their son Jules; and Sean (Annie) and their children George, Charlotte, Emma Kate, Will, Ted, and Margaret. She also cherished her bonus grandchildren, including Tom (Jamie), Samantha, Nick, Will, and Allison. She was very close with her siblings Victoria (pre-deceased 2022) (husband John pre-deceased), Patricia (former spouse Ronald pre-deceased), and Alfred (wife Merrie pre-deceased). Dolores will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Her legacy of love and warmth will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dolores's life at Boynton Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 15, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 16, at 10 a.m. at Boynton Memorial Chapel.
