Domenica Antoinette "Sunny" (Giovanniello) Nicora of Boynton Beach, Florida, peacefully passed away at Delray Medical Center, Delray, Florida, after a brief illness. Sunny was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and attended Washington-Irving High School in Manhattan. She was an usherette in Broadway theaters and enjoyed shopping, movies, listening to music and singing with her family and friends. She was employed as a model in the New York garment district and was a favorite of designer Alper Schwartz. On January 11, 1964, she married Dr. Walter Nicora, team dentist for the Brooklyn Dodgers. On game days, she would sit with the team wives and cheer for the home team. Sunny and Walter enjoyed the city life in Manhattan, and also loved traveling to Europe and the Caribbean, owning a vacation property in the Bahamas.

As an adult, Sunny became quite an athlete, learning to play tennis at the Bath and Tennis Club at West Hampton Beach. The shelves in her study were filled with trophies from her tournament wins. Sunny was a faithful parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Boynton Beach and an active member of the Italian Welfare Society. Last year, she celebrated her 100th birthday, joining her nieces and nephews on a Bahamas cruise. When asked her secret to her long life, she would respond "It's because I'm Italian."

She is pre-deceased by her husband Walter B. Nicora, parents Michael and Maria (Cutrone) Giovanniello, and her brother Michael Giovanniello. Sunny is survived by her brother, William Giovanniello, and many nieces and nephews who treasured her joyful and generous ways.

Funeral Mass will be held 10am Friday, January 9, 2025 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Boynton Beach, FL , followed by burial at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York.
