IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald E.
Houghton
February 2, 1937 – November 1, 2025
Boynton Beach, Florida — Donald Edward Houghton, 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on February 2, 1937, Don lived a life marked by love, service, and integrity.
Don graduated from Commerce High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from American International College in 1958. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, during the post–Korean War era. Continuing his passion for lifelong learning, Don earned his Juris Doctor from Western New England College School of Law in 1972. He launched his private practice soon after and formally incorporated Donald E. Houghton, CPA, P.C. in 1985. Don took great pride in being both a CPA and an attorney, and for over 50 years, Don served his clients—and his community—with unwavering integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
Don is survived by his cherished wife, Kathryn "Libby" (Griffith) Schultz; his devoted daughters: Jodi Hammer and her husband, Douglass; Susan Houghton; and Michelle Houghton; and his treasured grandchildren: David Hammer, Alexandra Kaczenski, Michael Gaudino, Daniel Hammer, Chase Gaudino and her husband, Eric Motler, and Samuel Gaudino.
Don was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Judith (Caserio) Houghton (2013), and his loving brothers, Richard Houghton (2025) and Kenneth Houghton (2007).
Don will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, quick wit, and steadfast devotion to his family. He took great joy in mentoring others and found purpose in helping those who sought his counsel. Beyond his professional achievements, Don was an avid racquetball player who competed with vigor and collected numerous trophies over the years. His legacy of love, integrity, and perseverance will live on in all who were fortunate to know him.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 S. State Road 7, Lake Worth, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. Please arrive between 2:00 and 2:15 p.m. to join the motorcade to the committal shelter. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don's life.
