Dorothy Mac Quaker, formerly from Delray Dunes Country Club, Boynton Beach, passed over to the other side Sunday, February 10, 2008. Her wish was granted to join her husband Gordon who passed away this last July and her favorite dog Suzzie who passed away in August. Dorothy had just celebrated her 91st birthday. She is survived by her grandchildren Brian and Cynthia Whitten, Melissa McLaughlin, Katie Fontana, Maggie Coate, Tom Coate, and David Coate; her son-in-law William Whitten; and step-son Michael Coate. Her only daughter Jo Anne passed away in 1972.
Dorothy was born in Minnesota but spent much of her life in and around Chicago, Illinois. She was an excellent cook, when she wanted to be, and an avid golfer for as long as she was able. She was very involved with the "I Have A Dream" program in the Boynton Beach area with her husband Gordon. She lived at Delray Dunes for 30 years and moved to Texas only when her health care dictated a need to be closer to her granddaughter and family. Dorothy was a long time member of Seacrest Presbyterian Church and would wish contributions be directed to the church or the Seacrest Christian School or Moody Bible Institute in lieu of flowers. She will be missed but we know she is in that better place her Lord prepared for her.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach. A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm, Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
