Dorothy Jean (Copenhaver) Taylor, 100 years of age of Ocean Ridge, FL entered
eternal rest on February 26, 2023. She passed at home, surrounded by her loving
family.
Dorothy was born on December 6, 1922, to Mary Helen and Lloyd Copenhaver in
Joliet, IL. She was an only child who loved sports and outdoor activities. After
graduating high school, Dorothy followed her dream to become a nurse at Copley
Nursing School in Aurora, IL. Soon after graduating as an RN, she married her
high school sweetheart William John Munch. They resided in Joliet, vacationed in
Florida, and eventually purchased a mobile home in Briny Breezes where they
spent winter vacations. Because they loved the area so much, they purchased land
in neighboring Ocean Ridge.
In 1964, as a recently divorced single mother, Dorothy procured the first pre-
construction loan obtained by a single female in Palm Beach County. Her current
single family home, once a duplex, was completed within 18 months of her
endeavors.
Dorothy continued her nursing career and education throughout her life. Her last
nursing position was with Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton where she worked
until her mid 70's.
Dorothy loved life. She enjoyed boating, motor homing, golf, travel, but more than
anything, her love for her family was enduring. Words fail the conveyance of how
very beloved she was to all who knew her.
Dorothy is predeceased by William Munch and Harold Taylor, along with beloved
grandson Jonathan Watson.
Among those left behind, Dorothy leaves her daughter, Sarah Ann Steies (Roland),
granddaughter Kourtney Watson (Ken Christian), grandsons Christopher Watson
and Eric Steies, along with great grandchildren Dominic Giangarra, Tristan
Penaluna, Alexander Penaluna, Logan Christian, Lara Christian, Skyler Watson,
and Rowan Watson.

and St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Delray Beach, FL.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from 4 pm-7 pm at Boynton Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church.
