Obituary

James Lanier "Dusty" Rhodes

Born in 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia, Dusty is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Rhodes, his daughter Teresa C. Torres (Albert), his grandchildren, Albert Torres, Dylan Torres, Matthew Pelletier (Jennifer), Sara Morrill (Matthew), Elizabeth Pelletier, his great grandchild Amara, and his stepsons, Mark Pelletier (Shannon), and Michael Pelletier. He's also survived by his siblings, William "Bill" Rhodes (Joan), Charlotte Anne Collett, Kathryn McCann, and his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Jennings Bryan Rhodes, his mother, Anne Elizabeth (Dean) Rhodes, and his siblings, Jane Elizabeth Tollett and Charles Edward Rhodes.

Dusty never met a person he didn't like. His smile and his attitude were affectious. While Dusty affected the lives of so many people including his family and his friends in the community, he had a special place in his heart for his many four-legged pals including his most recent, Mocha.

Dusty loved his family and was equally proud of his more than 20 years of service in The United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He was known for sharing countless stories of his many adventures traveling the world. He was aboard some of the most advanced aircraft carriers in The Navy's fleet including The USS Enterprise during The Vietnam War. To honor his service, Dusty's ashes will be scattered at sea by a United States Navy vessel allowing him to return to the places that he loved so much.
