Age 88, of Boynton Beach, died July 4, 2012. He lived in this area since 1985 coming from Queens, New York. Ed was born December 16, 1923 in Manhattan, New York. He was a graduate of Power Memorial Academy where he played basketball on a nationally recognized team. Ed was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army. He worked in the beer industry in sales management with Ballantine and retired from the Miller Brewing Company. Ed married the love of his life Ruth in 1956 and they were married for 53 years until she passed in 2010. He was an active volunteer and served as a lector at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son Gerard and his partner Susanne; his daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and Timothy Horsting; grandchildren, Brian and Melissa Johnston; sister, Kathleen; and several nieces and nephews.
His personality was as colorful as his outfits.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1pm Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Boynton Beach. A visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Sunday, July 8 at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach.
