Edward N.
Szrejter
December 16, 1927 – April 28, 2020
Edward Norman Szrejter of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2020. Edward was 92 years old.
Edward was preceeded in death by his beloved wife Eugenia and is survived by his children, son Michael and wife Patricia of Boynton Beach FL., son Patrick and wife Jeannine of Matthews NC., daughter Kathryn Buys of Wyoming MN., and daughter Jennifer and husband Keith Bugg of Virginia Beach, VA., with 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Edward lived a happy life full of many accomplishments. He served in the Marine Corps, retiring after 24 years asSargeant Major. He served overseas during the wars of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Other overseas tours while he was in the Corps included Japan and Embassy duty in Luxembourg.
While he was in Japan, in 1952, he discovered the love of Judo. This was a love that he brought to his family, extended family, and many friends, and he was active in Judo almost until his death. At the time of his death, he had reached the Judo black belt rank of 9 th degree.
After retiring from the Marine Corps Edward went to work for the Boy Scouts of America. He was the Regional Scout Executive in North Carolina. This was something that he had really enjoyed because it gave him the opportunity to shape the lives of young men as they became Eagle Scouts. Also, he liked the opportunity to travel around the state and meet new people.
After leaving the Boy Scouts Edward opened his own furniture refinishing store. Not only was he very good at wood working but in his earlier years, he also used to make leather goods.
Speaking of earlier years…Edward met Eugenia when he was in Florida touring with his Buffalo Bombers Roller Derby team!
He was passionate in his Catholic faith and a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus. While living in Jacksonville, NC he was a past Grand Knight for the Knight of Columbus.
Edward loved life and loved spending time with his family and friends even more. He enjoyed playing cards and eating. And, traveling to judo camps. Mostly he just enjoyed Life!
He was loved by so many and will be Greatly Missed!
Interment will take place at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth. A Memorial Service with Full Military Honors will be held at a later date.
