Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the homecoming of one of God's children, Emily Mary Gileza. Survived by her husband Richard, her children Donna, Teresa, Denise and Jorge, her grandchildren LJ, Santo Jr, Victoria, Alexandra, Giovanna, Christian and Gabriella, her siblings, Louise and Emilio. Emily, known as Amy by her family and friends, was born on February 6, 1952 to Emilio and Charlotte Faella in the Bronx, NY.

Amy was the oldest of her siblings and she supported and loved both of them unconditionally and endlessly. She shared that love with each and every one of her nieces and nephews, loving them like her own.

She grew up in the Bronx where she attended school and worked hard most of her life, always making her family proud. Amy worked as a dental assistant, bookkeeper, business owner, secretary and her most important job, a homemaker. At age 19 she first married Nicholas DeVito and together started her family with her first two daughters. In 1971 she was blessed with her first child Donna and later in 1973, her second child Teresa.

In 1981 she married her husband and love of her life Richard Gileza. Then she was blessed again in 1982 was they added to their blended family with Denise. In 1989 they completed their family with the addition of their son Jorge. Amy was a devoted wife and mother to her children, but not only to her own children, but to anyone she touched. Her welcoming spirit and warm heart made her unforgettable to all. Today many consider her their second mom... I can mention names but it would take forever. You know who you are.

In 1994 Amy took on her most favorite role..... grandma. 24 years and 7 grandchildren later, Amy spent her days taking care of each and everyone of her grandchildren. From taking them on sick days, to taking them all summer.... she fed them like no other! Her biggest pride and joy were her grandkids.... loving on all of them everyday.

Today we want to celebrate her life and not cry over her death. She would want us to smile and laugh because that is what she is doing right now in heaven with her mom and dad.
