Obituary

Erwin Friedrich Kinkel age 80, made his transition on December 15, 2020, in his home in Boynton Beach, Florida. He had a progressive neurological condition that he first noticed in the fall of 2014. He fought it bravely, with courage and determination but he gradually lost the ability for balance, walking, and speech, although he retained his amazing intellect, compassion, and sense of humor. He was supported, loved, and comforted by his wife Marian. They relocated to Florida from Milford, Ct. two years ago which was a safer place for him and one that he loved.

Erwin was a remarkably resilient and tenacious person, ever an optimistic and adventurous spirit. He was born in Sekitch Yugoslavia on June 10, 1940, the first child of four of the late David and Christine Kinkel. During the war, the family relocated to Germany. In November 1955,  the family left Germany and moved to the  New York area.

Erwin excelled in his profession owning Astra tool and Manufacturing Company in Bridgeport and Milford CT for many years. While living in Germany he was awarded a four-year apprenticeship by one of the most prestigious German firms in that field. His company built a reputation in his industry that led to receiving government defense contract awards. One of Erwin's projects he was always so proud of were the vital parts he manufactured for the inclusion into NASA's satellite during the Soviet Spudnick affairs era.

Ernie has two beautiful and loving daughters, Julie and Kristin by a previous marriage.  In 1989 Ernie met and later married Marian Stansbury, Ph.D.  They resided for many years in Milford, CT. They were both members of Unity Center of Norwalk.

Upon having lived a very richly blessed family life, Erwin is survived by his wife Marian, his daughters Julie and Kristin, his grand-daughter Violet, his brother Werner and wife Clara, his cousins Rick and Peter Kinkel, and Helmut and his wife Marianne in Germany.

In lieu of flowers, Dr. Marian Stansbury would ask that donations be made in Ernie's name to the Unity Center of Norwalk.
