IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Essie Lorene
Mazza
October 9, 1923 – February 21, 2019
Essie Lorene was actually born in a log cabin in East Texas in in 1923. She was an only child. Her family moved around Texas and finally settled in Seguin.
After graduating from high school, she moved to San Antonio to start her single life. While there she met a young serviceman, Ralph Haverstick. They married in 1942. Bud (that was his nickname) served in Pacific until the end of WW II. Lorene, the name she preferred to use lived with his mother and Jean, their daughter. Jean became the sister Lorene always wanted. The two were as close as can be for the rest of their lives.
While living in Pittsburgh, Bud and Lorene's daughter, Nancy, was born. The small family lived with Bud's mother, till she passed away in 1959.
Lorene loved to playing bridge, cooking and sewing. She also volunteered at the family church, St. Phillip's, working in the school lunch room and during annual bazaars.
The family moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1961. Bud and Lorene had a great life here. They moved to Boynton Beach in 1978.
Bud passed away in 1980. Lorene remained in Boynton Beach where she met her second husband, James Mazza. When Jim died in 2013, Lorene moved to Sun City Center, not far from Tampa, to be near daughter Nancy and her husband, who lived in Wimauma.
Always happy and ready for fun, Lorene was loved by everyone who knew her. She and Jean were quite the pair. They kept us all entertained. The two ladies always said that they would meet in heaven, driving through the gates in a bright red Corvette. Lorene seldom had a bad word to say about anyone.
Her 4 grandchildren, all of whom flew in to be here today, loved her very much and her 11 great grands followed right along.
Lorene just missed seeing her first great, great grandson's born earlier this week, but we all know that young Cade will have the best guardian angel in Heaven can offer!
