Obituary

Frank B. Benedetto, age 96, of Boynton Beach, formerly of Bridgeport and Trumbull, CT, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Born on February 20,1919 in Bridgeport, CT he was the son of the late Louis and Colomba Donatelli Benedetto. Frank was a devoted husband and companion known for his charm and sense of humor. Frank entered the U.S. Army, stationed in Alaska, in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1944 earning the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. He spent his career as a hairstylist and owned and operated several salons in CT. Retiring to Boynton Beach, FL full time in 1999. Frank was a devout member of St. Thomas Moore where he participated in many volunteer events, served as an usher, and as a Eucharistic minister. He also spent many years as a member of the Knights of Colombus. Frank is survived by his loving companion, Rita Troncone of Boynton Beach, FL, his daughter Victoria Sherbo of Derby, CT, six grandchildren, Dawn Sherbo and her fiancé, Kevin, Amy Benedetto LaMaine and her husband Chris, Jeff Sherbo, Adriana Benedetto, Scott Sherbo and his wife Tori, and Robert F. Benedetto and his fiancé Kim, six great grandchildren, Mark and Jeremy Weston, Brendon Tymon, Isabella LaMaine, Landon and Harper Benedetto, his godsons Leonard Maiocco and Thomas Benedetto as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife of 30 years, Jenni Palmer Benedetto; his second wife of 30 years Filomena Ricco Benedetto, his son Robert Benedetto, three brothers, Thomas, Leonard, and Colombo (Jack) Benedetto, two sisters, Lucy Orticelli and Marie Maiocco. Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Boynton Beach on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 12noon for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at The Gardens Memorial Park, 4103 N. Military Trail, Boca Raton. Family and friends may call on Tuesday , May 26, 2015 from 5:00 -7:00 PM at Boynton Memorial Chapel, 800 W. Boynton Beach Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the ALS association (www.alsa.org).
