Obituary

Gloria Marie Rossi Palank passed away July 8, 2024, at the age of 97 and 5 months. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Gloria and her only brother, Joseph, were born and raised in Hazelton, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Mary Martini and Joseph Rossi.  Her only brother, Joseph Lewis Rossi passed away in 1982.

After marrying Joseph Palank, Gloria and Joe moved to Miami, and together they started a grocery store business. They lived on a farm in Opa-Locka and raised 4 children, Avis, Gena, Patti, and Paul. Once the children were grown, Gloria decided to go to college and became an EKG technician. For the next 10 years she worked at North Shore Medical Center. Eventually, they sold the grocery business, she retired from the hospital, and they moved to Boynton Beach, Florida. Their only son Paul Palank, a Miami Police Officer, passed away in 1991.

While living in Boynton Beach, Gloria was active in her church, she was a member of the Women's club, volunteered at Bethesda Medical Center, and was active in her community, helping to run the community bingo games.

She will always be remembered as Nonna, who taught her grandchildren to love new adventures, play cards, enjoy reading and solving puzzles.  Nonna could pack a bag in minutes and be ready to head out on a trip around Florida, across the country or travel as far away as Europe and Asia. She was an adventurer at heart.

Gloria's loving family members, include her children, Avis Brown, Gena Palank, Patti Werner, her daughter-in-law Angelica Palank Sharlet and nephew Bob Rossi. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Tim Brown, Michael Kientz, Christine Garcia, Brian Werner, Matthew Werner, Josef Palank and Taylor Palank. Her great grandchildren Dolan, Isabella, Penelope, Easton, Vivian, Amelia, Jonathan, Michael, Michelle, Nicoletta, Simon and Owen will all remember her as BisNonna.

We will all remember and miss you forever.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Friday, October 18, 2024. Gloria will be laid to rest at Boynton Beach Memorial Park at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
