HARRIET (POLLY) CANTY

Harriet "Polly" Canty passed away at Bethesda Hospital on December 26, 2010 after a short illness. She was born to Hazel and Donald Puffer on December 1, 1926 in Belmont, MA. Polly grew up in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School before attending and graduating from LaSalle College in Newton, MA. She worked as a secretary for many years but her principal dedication was as a loving mother to her three sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Hazel Puffer and her brother Donald. She is survived by her three sons; D. Peter Canty and his wife Nancy of Lafayette, LA, William A. Canty and his wife Kirby of Delray Beach, FL, and Philip L. Canty of Cartersville, GA. Polly is further survived by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Polly lived in Delray and Boynton Beach for 38 years and leaves many friends. She volunteered her time for many charitable groups including the Lupus Foundation, was an active member of the Republican Club and attended Unity Church of Delray Beach. A memorial service is planned for January 22, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Unity. The family asks that remembrances be in the form of a kindness to a person of need in keeping with how Polly lived her life.
