IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Irma
Hooper
February 24, 1936 – May 4, 2021
Irma Brylo Hooper
Born: February 24 th , 1936
Left us for a new adventure: May 4 th , 2021
As everyone knows, Irma was born in Poland, her Father Antoni was an American citizen, she came over on the boat, Ellis Island, had her head shaved and so on and so forth. Had two brothers, may they both rest in peace, Lester (wife Regina) and Walter (Wife Millie). She went to school, than to work, met her future Husband, may he rest in peace, Thomas Arnold Hooper, fell in love got married and had 6 children, Glenn (wife Aggie), Anthony (Tony) may he rest in peace, Elizabeth (Liz) may she rest in peace, Sandra (Sandie) may she rest in peace, Patricia (Patty, Husband Keith Thomsen) and Paula (Husband Bruce Carpenter). 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren along with 11 nieces and nephews.
Irma wouldn't want an obituary about where she worked in her life, what accomplishments she had. Degrees or awards. She would just want everyone that she touched to remember her as she was "a spit fire!" The way she peed a little when she laughed too hard. Or the unspoken rule "do not walk behind Irma when she is walking up the stairs" She was always able to laugh at herself allowing others to follow. And boy did she love to dance!
Irma never judged anyone in her life especially her children as well as herself. She never questioned who, what, where, when and why. She really didn't want to know. If she was in the position to help she would. If she wasn't, she didn't. And we all knew that.
Irma never tried to keep up with the "Jone's", she took one day at a time, worked hard for what she had and never looked back, never wallowed in self-pity and was very proud of what she had accomplished her entire life: Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ending with her all-time favorite saying for as long as we all can remember (before she changed her mind and decided to be cremated):
"Lay my face down in my coffin butt naked so everyone can kiss my ass good-bye!"
Irma, you are definitely one in a million! And would not have wanted you any other way.
There will be service in Rye, New York in the near future. No services will be held in the state of Florida,
Rest in peace Mom (Irma)
