Obituary

SOLOMON, Sr., James Clark,
age 84, passed away while being treated at JFK Medical Center, on May 30, 2014. The man everyone knew as "Jimmy" was born on November 28, 1929 in Republic, PA, to parents Joseph and Effie Solomon. The second-youngest of 12 children, Jimmy was preceded in death by all five of his brothers and six sisters.
Jimmy began his encompassing working life at the age of 12, driving a coal truck for his father's trucking company. Instilled at a young age as it was with all of his siblings, hard work became a constant in Jimmy's life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1951. Jimmy went on to graduate from college, earning his degree from Waynesburg College in 1957. From there, he went on to teach high school mathematics at Redstone High School. He owned and co-owned multiple businesses including S.D.S. Construction Company, J. Solomon Amusements, and Falcon Crane and Rigging, Inc. Retirement was not in his vocabulary, as Jimmy was the first person each morning to arrive at Ace Amusements, Inc., the company founded by his son, J.C. Solomon, Jr., working there five days a week until the week of his death.
Jimmy was passionate about business, but he was obsessed with his family. He met the love of his life, Martha "Yvonne" Williams, and knew immediately that she would be the one with whom he would make his family. While Yvonne predeceased Jimmy, their two children, J C. Solomon, Jr. and his wife Anita (Mojock) and Jamie Faye Sutton, survive their proud parents. Jimmy found love once again in 1999, when he met Norma Jean Solomon. Jimmy and Norma Jean enjoyed a wonderful companionship for 15 years, until her sudden passing on March 26, 2014. Along with his two children, Jimmy leaves behind five grandchildren, James Clark Solomon, III, Anthony Joseph Solomon, Jacqulynn Jean Debord and her husband Dustin, Angela Solomon, and David Sutton and one great-grandson, Hunter James Debord.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Monday, June 2, 2014, at BOYNTON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 800 West Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach. Those who wish may make donations to St. Ellien Orthodox Church, 500 Spring Street, Brownsville, PA 15417, in his memory. www.BoyntonMemorial.com
