Jane Harden Hanson, 91, of Delray Beach, FL passed away Monday September 05, 2011.Wife of noted attorney, the late Maj. Gen. Arthur B. "Tim" Hanson, USMC Reserve (ret.), Jane Hanson was a civic leader for the more than 50 years that she lived in the Washington, D.C. area. Her service included positions as president of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Washington, treasurer of the Junior League of Washington, and member of the Alumni Board of the College of William & Mary. She was an active volunteer with groups ranging from Potomac's Country Gardeners and St. Francis Episcopal Church to the District's Hillcrest Children's and Family Center, the Travelers' Aid Society, the Washington National Cathedral, and the committees for the restoration of both the President's House at William & Mary and the Great Falls Tavern, Potomac. She also enjoyed fifteen years as the Saturday manager of Potomac's boutique, On The Left Bank. She is survived by two daughters, Kim and Jane Hanson, two grandsons, Spec. David Hanson (Idaho National Guard) and William Hanson Willens, as well as great grandson, Sawyer Hanson Spencer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to the National Cathedral, the Fund for William & Mary, or Hospice of Palm Beach County. Services will be held at 11 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery on October 24, 2011.
