Obituary

The day before she died, my grandmother said, "Never forget me." And, that, we never will.  Jayne P. Lyons Bullock Potter, a woman of deep Catholic faith, was born May 10, 1925 and died Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 91 years old. Jayne spent her younger years in Brockton, MA with her parents, Thomas Lyons (of Lyons Express) and Alice (Sheehan) Lyons. She loved her two younger siblings, Thomas Lyons Jr. of Palm Harbor, Fl and Ann (Lyons) James of Brockton, MA. Jayne enjoyed being an aunt to Ann and Bob's seven, and Tom and Jane's four, children; being a great-aunt to their collective 30 children brought her significant happiness.
Jayne spent the summers of her youth at Swifts Beach, Wareham, MA where she attended dances with her cousins who were like sisters to her. Jayne was a 1943 graduate of Brockton High, and dependably attended reunions with her classmates. My grandfather, Gerald "Jerry" Bullock (of Jerry's Garage), fiercely pursued my grandmother's hand in marriage. They began a family, and raised three amazing children: Jayne (Bullock) Tirrell, Jo-Anne "Jodi" (Bullock) Galbato, and John "Johnny" Bullock in a house, with a pool, on Cary Hill. They then retired to Naples, FL. We know Jayne appreciated her sons-in-law, John Tirrell and Vin Galbato (even if it wasn't always obvious).
Jayne was an incredible grandmother to Jodi's three children: Lisa (Galbato) Molisse, Amy (Galbato) Stultz, and David Galbato. When our spouses joined the family, Jim, Chris, and Tiffany gained a loving grandma. Sarah, Matt, Grace, Caroline, Will, Ella, and Quincy loved their "Gigi" unconditionally.
Following Jerry's passing, Jayne was blessed to find love again and married Eldon Potter. His family from Pontiac, IL was loved by Jayne for almost 40 years.  She looked forward to visits with Marianne, Richard, and Lindsey Schwahn; Barbara and Howard Sancken; and Rita and Robert Hertenstein, Sr.  Six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and 16 great, great grandchildren filled her with joy.
To use her own words, Jayne was a "fair scholar and a good dancer." She was a friend-loyal and true. She was a defense-worker, a bookkeeper, a League of Women's voter, a mother, a Girl Scout leader, and an usher at the Naples Philharmonic.  She was a parishioner at St John the Evangelist in Naples where she spent countless hours volunteering and worshipping. Jayne loved birds, coffee, the color blue, and swimming in her pool or the ocean. She was a painter, writer, and beach lover.
We know Jayne will be welcomed into heaven by countless family members and friends, including her parents, husbands, son, and, most recently, our beloved Mark Boucher.
We end this tribute to our grandmother with the words she loved. . .May she live eternally in "love, peace, joy, and laughter."
A mass will be held at St. Edward's Church, Main Street, Brockton, MA on Saturday, July 16th at 9am. The burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Randolph, MA. As a tribute to Jayne, you may like to join the family in wearing her signature color blue. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation to Mark Robert Boucher Memorial Fund, PO Box 275, Easton, MA 02334.
