Obituary

Age 80, Jean A. "John" Therien, of Palm Beach Florida, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, and of Montréal, Canada, passed away June 28th, 2015. He was surrounded by his family at home.
The son of Roland A. Therien and Jeanne Lesperance of Montréal, Canada.
He is survived by his loving wife Claire of 59 years. He was predeceased by his younger sister Janine de Brienne. He is survived by his older sister Lise Ranger of Montreal Canada, his younger sister Monique Therien of Montreal Canada, his three sons, Pierre, Luke, and Gilles, and his six grandchildren.
After attending College, he worked as a Manager for his father's loan company from 1954 to 1959. In 1960 he founded and managed "Alliance Credit", turning it public on the Montreal Stock Exchange, selling it in 1966. In 1966 he moved to Fort Lauderdale Florida with his family, starting a new company "Financial Business Brokers", succeeding as a business and real estate broker in Broward County. In 1971 he formed a partnership and started a restaurant and bar called Banana Boat. That partnership began a chain of Banana Boats extending through Broward and Palm Beach County. In 1978 he formed a new partnership and opened a new Banana Boat in Boynton Beach, followed by developing and managing other restaurants including Fifth Avenue Grill in Delray Beach in 1989, Fifth Avenue Grill in Lighthouse Point in 1996, Old Calypso in 1997, and Prime Catch in Boynton Beach in 2004.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am Friday, July 10, 2015 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 643 N.E. 4th Avenue, Boynton Beach FL 33435.
