Obituary

Jerry Wayne Medley

August 5, 1941 – August 1, 2022

Jerry was the youngest child born to Milton and Zettie Medley of Indianapolis, Indiana. He had two sisters, Vivian Carter and Tressa Orman.

After high school Jerry attended Indiana University, pursuing a career in accounting. However God had another plan and a friend invited him to church where he heard and really understood the Gospel. He accepted Christ as his Savior. His thirst for the Word and Christian growth led him to enroll at Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri. He majored in Bible and Music. There he met and married his wife, Carol Sue Teasley from Detroit, Michigan.

After graduation he served in churches in music, administration and teaching. Indianapolis, 1966-1975, and Hialeah, Florida 1975-1986. In 1987 he chose to expand his career to the area of Financial Advisor in the Boca area and served various churches with his music leadership bi-vocationally. He retired seven years ago from Wells-Fargo Advisors.

Even in failing health, Jerry was known for his encouraging smile and greeting when asked, "how are you today?" his response was always "Top of the World." Truly we can say he was "Top of the World" at 4:00 PM, August 1, 2022.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue Medley, and one sister, Vivian Carter of Greensburg, Kansas; eight wonderful nieces and nephews; six grand nieces and nephews; and six great-grand nieces and nephews.
