Obituary

Joan A. Demyan

March 14, 1943 – September 26, 2019

Joan passed away peacefully on September 26, 2019. She will be greatly missed by husband, David and her sons Larry Bissett and Jerry Bissett, as well as beloved grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.

Everyone who knows Joan will remember her shy smile, out sized personality, and sparkling, thoughtful humor. She and David were married in 1986 and traveled extensively, especially from the 90's on. Joan shared her love of travel with her husband and family. She loved seeing new places, "adventures," she called them and going on cruises.

She was born Joan Ann Daly in Brooklyn, New York on March 14, 1943 and attended Catholic School at St. Joseph's and St. Ephrem's. After school, she worked at the Eastman-Dillon brokerage on Wall Street in lower Manhattan. She moved with family to New Jersey and worked in finance at Smith Barney and Moore and Schley. Later, she was director of human resources at Human Affairs International. She lived with David and her sons Larry, Jerry, and Steven (now deceased) in Florham Park and Ledgewood, NJ.

Joan retired and moved with David to Boynton Beach, Florida in 2003, living briefly with her sister Maureen before establishing a household nearby as year-round residents. She loved exploring her new home and area geography, shopping, and experiencing new restaurants. She established many lasting friendships in New Jersey, Florida, and all over the country with other travel enthusiasts she met on tour.

She filled our lives with travel, family, and dinner out almost nightly. Most of all she filled our lives with beautiful memories. It is inadequate to say that she will be missed. A bright, beautiful radiant light has gone out and now shines down upon us from heaven.

Floral tributes or donations to Joan's favorite charity are welcome.
