Obituary

Joan Carol Mooney, 85, passed away peacefully, at her home and surrounded by her loving family on November 16, 2018. Born on April 23, 1933, Joan was the second daughter of Robert Cotil and Helen MacNaughton Cotil. She grew up with her sister Barbara and her family, in the Inwood section of New York City. She was the loving and devoted wife to James Francis Mooney for 67 years. Joan dedicated her life to raising their six children. She was an adoring grandmother of twelve and a great grandmother to one. Her family was the absolute center of her life. Joan told the best stories, had the greatest advice, was always there for anyone in need. She loved reading, playing cards, board games, bowling, music and traveling with her husband and children. Her favorite moments were the ones she shared with family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband James F. Mooney of Boynton Beach, FL, and their children: James, of Purchase, NY, Robert, of Pearl River, NY, John and daughter-in-law Evelyn of Boynton Beach, FL, William and daughter-in-law Jean of Pearl River, NY, Joanne and son- in- law Michael King of Lutz, FL, and Barbara and son- in- law Don of Peachtree Corners, GA, her grandchildren: Christopher, Jessica, John, Therese, William, James, Andrew, Isabella, Sophia, Gabriella, Ryan, Jake, great grandchild Christopher and her sister Dr. Barbara Kardas of Chicago, Il. The Mooney family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St Jude's children hospital or the charity of their choice.
