Joan Groff Smith, loving mother of 6, passed away on January 28, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born October 24, 1930 in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Upon graduating from Saratoga Springs High School she received the most prestigious Yaddo award for her high academic standards and citizenship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Dorothy, her husband of 53 years, John L. Smith, her sons Harold "Ace" Smith, and DJ Smith, and siblings Thomas, Dudley, Jack and Patricia.

Survivors include her brother Scott Groff (Judy) of Lacey, WA, brother in law Michael Smith (Beverly)of Saratoga Springs, NY,  daughters Kathy Smith of Tarpon Springs, FL, Karen Kaplon of Zephyrhills, FL, Constance McManus of Boynton Beach, FL and  Cynthia Eggleston of Binghamton, NY, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was loved by many including the nurses and administrators of the Nursing Home where she last lived.  They all said that she had a way of making them laugh and look at life in a brighter manner as she never complained.

There will be a memorial service held at the National Cemetery in Lake Worth on February 22, 2021 where she will join her loving husband, presided by Father Gabriel Ghanoum.
