IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John J.
Dolmat
September 2, 1929 – November 1, 2025
John Joseph Dolmat, a devoted husband, proud veteran, and lifelong train enthusiast, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 96.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 2, 1929, John was the son of Boleslaw and Josephine (Ptasenik) Dolmat. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Stribling during the Korean War.
Following his military service, John returned home and began a distinguished career as a Dispatcher for the Long Island Rail Road, where he dedicated over 30 years before retiring.
The true cornerstone of his life was his enduring marriage to Gloria Ann Bambina. John and Gloria shared an extraordinary 76 years of wedded life, a testament to their deep love and commitment. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising four children in Deer Park, NY and who blessed them with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
John possessed a lifelong passion for all things mechanical and wooden. He was a master carpenter who loved tackling house projects, but his most celebrated hobby was model railroading. His elaborate model train room was a source of great pride and a joyful tribute to the railroads he knew so well. He also found relaxation in traveling the world and unwinding with classic cowboy movies. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his strong character, dedicated work ethic, and ability to always complete a project.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his loving sister, Theresa. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria, his four children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 12pm to 2pm Monday, November 17, 2025 at Boynton Memorial Chapel, Boynton Beach.
