John M. Gillespie, 83, of Hernando, Florida died Thursday July 9, 2009 after a brief illness. Born November 12, 1925 in Syracuse, he lived most of his life in Baldwinsville, moving to Florida in 1989. A graduate of Baldwinsville Academy and Central City Business Institute, he retired from General Electric. He was a communicant of St. Marys Church. AWWII Army veteran, Jack served in Europe and in the Army Reserve Corps. He received the Bronze Star. An avid outdoorsman, Jack was a member of the Baldwinsville Rod and Gun Club and a Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association.
A devoted husband and loving father, Jack is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy (Carter) Gillespie. Six children, Mary Ellen (Paul) Hollis of Delray Beach, FL, James (Kathy) Gillespie of Baldwinsville, Joan (James) Duffy of Baldwinsville, Anne (Chris) Cywilko-Bolt of Syracuse, Barbara Gillepsie of Elbridge and John (Lori) Gillespie of Racine, WI. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
