IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John R.
Griffith
November 20, 1939 – February 7, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Richard Griffith (known by some loved ones as Jack), who left us peacefully on February 7, 2024, at the age of 85. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, John Griffith was a man of unwavering strength, deep faith, and boundless generosity, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Born in Racine WI, John Griffith pursued a distinguished education at the United States Naval Academy, where he developed the discipline, leadership, and honor that would guide him throughout his life. His time at the Academy instilled in him a lifelong commitment to strength, integrity, and excellence—values he carried into both his career and personal life.
After his time at the Naval Academy, John Griffith built a successful 30+-year career at IBM, where he became a respected engineer. He had an extremely strong work ethic and prided himself at never missing a day.
John also had a passion for sports and activities of all kinds he was a champion Navy wrestler, avid basketball player, loved puzzles and cards, and later in life was passionate about swimming and pool therapy. He even did a time as a basketball coach and swimming manager for his girls.
Beyond his professional achievements, John was a devoted member and active participant of his Presbyterian Church, giving generously of his time and talents. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he found great joy in serving his church community. Whether through leadership roles, volunteer work, or simply offering a helping hand, he embodied the true spirit of kindness and service.
At the heart of his life was his family. John was a loving and devoted husband to Elaine for over 50years, a cherished father to Richard Griffith, Debbie Griffith, and Heidi Grecsek, and a proud grandfather to Logan and Johnny Grecsek.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in the love, faith, and cherished memories John leaves behind. His lovely way, patience, and devotion to what is good will continue to inspire us.
A celebration of life will be held on March 7th at Boynton Memorial Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 3pm. This will be followed by a burial held this summer in WI
John. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten
