Obituary

Boynton Beach - John Ohanesian, 95, also known as 'Mr. O.' and 'Johnnie O.,' peacefully passed away on November 21, 2016.

His wife, Helen Gasparian Ohanesian, preceded Mr. Ohanesian in everlasting life. He leaves his loving family, son Richard J. Ohanesian; son Robert M. Ohanesian and his wife Cheryl Moore; his daughter Jill Ohanesian-Ryan; grandchildren Kaitland, Tenley, Adriane, Derek, Noelle, and Sarah; nieces and nephews; many friends.

Mr. Ohanesian was born and raised in Massena, NY on the St. Lawrence River; a place where, when the snows arrived, so did the National Guard—to dig them out.

Mr. Ohanesian is an alumnus of Georgetown University, where he attended the School of Foreign Service. He received his Masters Degree from St. Lawrence University and entered NYU's Doctoral program.

His love of knowledge compelled him to be an educator for forty years. He cherished his time with his students as he always felt they were 'our future'—'in education there was freedom.' As many who knew him, he loved a good debate. If one received a wry smile, you just knew you were in trouble!

Most beloved, were his 'tales,' his infamous stories, which brought many chuckles to friends and those that crossed his path. Blessed with many special gifts in life, Jane Angelica was one such gift late in life. Jane enjoyed his stories as much as he loved telling them. Together, they truly kicked up the dance floor!

Mr. Ohanesian was a life-long Mason. He loved his dog, Tiger. He beamed at fast cars and sailboats. He adored his family, especially his grandchildren.

Honoring both Mr. Ohanesian and his late wife's wishes… a private ceremony on a sailboat will accompany their final journey on earth, "Two Sheets to the Wind" on the Atlantic.

Part of his legacy is his unwavering faith in the Kingdom of Heaven. Godspeed Johnnie O!
