John B. Stewart Jr. of Delray Beach, FL passed away April 9, 2008 at the age of 96. John was the son of John B. Stewart Sr. and Helen Howard Shattuck Stewart. John Sr. founded the Stewart-Hartman Tobacco Co in Windsor, CT in 1906. John Jr. graduated from Loomis Institute (now Loomis-Chaffee) in 1930 and from Cornell University in 1934 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. John resided in Greenwich, CT and was a member of The Milbrook Country Club. He was employed by the Fafnir Bearing Co. of New Britain, CT for 40 years and retired in 1976. He and his wife, S. Elizabeth (Betty) Stewart moved to Quail Ridge, Boynton Beach, Florida. After Betty passed away in 1988, John married Ruth T. Martin of Delray Beach, FL in 1993. Both have been residents of Abbey Delray since 1996. John is survived by a son, John B. Stewart III and his wife, Dian Doda Stewart, and a daughter, Jan S. Ross and her husband William A. Ross. He has 5 grandchildren, W. Scott Ross, John B. Stewart IV, Kimberly Johnson, Dawn A. Kee, and Kristin R. Howard and 11 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 3:00pm at Boynton Beach Memorial Park.
