Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Herman, 79, passed away August 17th 2023, surrounded by family and friends.

Son of Marjorie Pritchard and Joe Herman, brother of Carol Owen (Dave Knight) and Robin (Ian) Anderson and uncle to Jordan Anderson.

He was married to the late Hollie Reed Herman and together they had four children , Beth (John) Sheridan of Boynton Beach FL , Joe Herman and Jeff Herman of Raleigh NC and predeceased by infant  son, Michael Herman .

Grandpa Joes   pride and joy were his eight grandchildren, Johnny, Matthew and AJ Sheridan, Joseph (Trey) and Camden Herman and Jackson , Hollie, and Brynn Herman.

He is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous godchildren.

Joe grew up in Whitesboro New York and he was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy for 12 years.  His Catholic faith was a very important part of his life.   Currently he was an active member of Saint Matthews Catholic Church where he enjoyed going to daily mass and participating in Bible studies.

He proudly served his country as an Army MP, a tradition followed by his grandson, Camden. His finest moment was when he protected Bobby Kennedy.

Joe moved to Florida in 1966 and made south Florida his home.  For the past 20 years he has lived in Winston Trails where he served as President of his homeowner's association and volunteered as a Citizen On Patrol.

Joe worked for IBM for over 30 years and was he was a proud retiree.  His sons followed in their parents' footsteps and made IBM a family affair.

Joe's favorite hobbies were attending his grandkids sporting events.  He could be found and heard in the bleachers of many baseball, basketball and football fields.  He was devoted until the end and made numerous friends along the way.  When not at a game he spent many weekends in the recliner cheering on his favorite teams and players.

Always one for a good wager, whether it be while watching Jeopardy, at the card room, playing poker for hours or doing some scratchers Joe was always ready to make a bet!

Joe was probably best known for having a great sense of humor, being the life of the party or having some quick comebacks.  Up until the final days of his life he was full of one liners, and quick comments.

We would like to extend much thanks to Dr. Robert Dudley, Courtyard Gardens, Delray Medical Center and  Hospice/ Trustbridge
