Mr. Martin of Boynton Beach and Philadelphia, PA, passed away January 21, 2015. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's Preparatory HS and St. Charles Seminary. Joe was instrumental in the development and operations of Life Care Retirement Communities throughout Florida. He then joined Life Care Services Corporation from Des Moines, IA, which specialized in retirement housing; then became Vice President and a member of its Board of Directors. He was also President of the Florida Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, Chairman of the Continuing Care Advisory Council for Gov. Robert Graham, and a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Homes for the Aging. Joe also served as a member of the board of the Bethesda Hospital Foundation.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; his daughters Missy (Jason) Lucas and Christina (Troy) Wheat; five grandchildren, Joseph and Caitlin Lucas, Tori, Colin, and Callie Wheat; and his brother Guy F. Martin.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Delray Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bethesda Hospital Foundation in Joe's memory.
