Obituary

Joseph Parmegiani, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 90.

Joseph was born on June 5, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, to Manlio Parmegiani and Pearl Striana. He was raised in Brooklyn and later lived for many years in Staten Island, New York, before settling in Boynton Beach, Florida, where he resided full time for the past 30 years.

In Brooklyn on April 24, 1955, Joseph married the love of his life, Louise Piccolo. Together they shared an extraordinary 70 years of marriage, a milestone Joseph proudly celebrated, along with his 90th birthday, surrounded by family last June.

Joe's greatest joy in life was his family. Nothing made him happier than seeing his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered around the table together. He was immensely proud of each of them and never missed an opportunity to say so. Family was always his first love and greatest accomplishment.

Joseph enjoyed life's pleasures, both big and small. He loved playing the slot machines at the casino, watching jai alai games, old movies, and playing the guitar. He took immense pride in his cars—especially his Lincolns, always fully loaded and finished with gold trim. He was known for his impeccable style, particularly his custom-made suits with no lapels, which reflected his classic taste and individuality.

Joe built his own insurance brokerage business from the ground up in Brooklyn NY through his hard work and dedication, he was well liked and respected by his clients. He was fortunate to retire at a young age and often shared how grateful he was to have experienced everything he wanted in life. He would say that his later years were "the icing on the cake." In his final year, he proudly checked off his bucket list—celebrating 70 years of marriage and reaching the age of 90.

Joseph is survived by his devoted wife, Louise Parmegiani; his four children: LouAnn (Joe Gasparro), Leo (Nancy Daniele), Dolores (Rob Mazzola), and Pearl (Barry Castaldo).

He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Danielle Ruggiero (John Matos), Elisa Ruggiero (Matt Jablonsky), Gina Ruggiero (Joe Leonard), Joseph Parmegiani, Angelica Parmegiani (Doug Kearns), Jacqueline Parmegiani (Michael Patti), Felicia Castaldo (Neiman Obaydo), Lorenzo Castaldo, Vincenzo Castaldo (Theresa Sciorilli), Noelle Mazzola, and Natalie Mazzola (Matthew Melendez).

Joseph was a proud great-grandfather to Gianna Matos, Valentina Matos, Avelina Matos, Daniella Jablonsky, Russell Jablonsky, Maryam Obaydo, and his newest 2025 additions: James Kearns, Yusef Obaydo, and Leo Leonard.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Manlio and Pearl Parmegiani.

Joe will be remembered for his deep love of family, his pride, his style, his stories, his great smile, his cars, and the full life he lived. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and family that will endure for generations. We will celebrate his life as he asked of us.

Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, NY. Should you wish to send something, please consider a donation in his memory to two foundations who were near and dear to his heart: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers .
